Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza

As many of these begin, my babes and I were watching a Babish video. Chicago Style Deep Dish. I have had deep dish pizza in the Digiorno stylings before and have never really liked it. But it was a new style and way of doing something, so we had to try it. Also, babes was DYING for it. So away we went. This is after attempt #2, because attempt #1 was ROUGH. We have tried two different flavorings for the inside of the pizza but the thing we have worked on the most is the dough. The deep dish pizza dough has to be strong enough to hold up so much weight! So here is what we did.  Recipe: Bryan's class friends texted him this recipe that they like. I don't know if they made it up, or got it from something. 3/4 cup warm water  2 1/4 teaspoon of yeast 1 tablespoon of sugar 3 cups flour 3/4 teaspoon of salt 1/3 cup vegetable or olive oil 6 tablespoons of softened butter 2-3 tablespoons of corn meal  Put warm water, yeast and sugar in bowl and let bloom for 10-15 minutes.  A...

Shepherd's Pie by Babish

  My boo loves a good Shepherd's pie. I learned this as we leisurely watched a Babish episode before going to bed the other night. My experience with Shepherd's Pie stems from a temporary obsession with the television show, When Calls the Heart. The reasons behind why my roommate at the time and I fell for this mildly over-the-top romance/western/prairie life show are a whole other story, but notwithstanding, we did. One of the characters cooks a Shepherd's Pie and from that, I found out that my roommate refused to eat them. So I looked up a recipe and made the simplest version I could. My roommate did eat the pie and enjoyed it a degree more than she had in the past, but if we had been roommates later in my life (and after I met my husband and we discovered Babish, which would make the whole roommate thing weird..) she would have enjoyed it a boiling point more!
